WHO ARE WE ?
 

The Parc Environment Naturel Sutton is a non profit organisation incorporated in 1979.The main goal is to promote the creation of a regional park in the Massif of Monts Sutton.

Since than the project had grow and is now part of the conservation project transborder started by ACA Appalachian Corridor Appalachien, to protect the natural hallway of the Green Mountains ,Vermont to Mt Orford passing by Mts Sutton in the Eastern Township. On the Canadian side it was developed with the sponsorship of local and national groups such as Fiducie de la Vallée Ruiter (FFVR),  Fiducie Foncière du Marais d’Alderbrooke (FFMA), Fondation des Marécages Memphrémagog (FMM), Les Sentiers de L’Estrie and Conservation de la Nature-Québec.

 

An outdoor mountain

P.E.N.S. offers a 77 km of hiking and walking trails for any one looking for a challenge. Yes, hikers could   plan the adequate ride according to their skills , using their imagination , and choosing from a wide variety. There is more than nature interpretation, the organisation had set guided tours, to be sure you will find a new dimension of any trails, to maximise your experience.

 

The natural sites are rich

The Parc Environnement Naturel de Sutton is covering a large part of the Mts Sutton. It also covers a variety of natural habitat. The trails are inviting walkers to pass in a mature forestry,full of rich and diversified species as le Dos de L’Orignal. Higher you walk closer to the typical Nordic vegetation you get. If you reach a summit of 900m the vegetation and the fauna is different than what you would find at the lower level. The hikers could observe the changes while they climb to the top.

 

The organisation is aimed to the clientele

 

The team of workers of Parc Eenvironnement Sutton want to keep a good quality of service to their visitors. It is why they  look daily at the 77 km of trails to be sure the road signs are visible, the condition of path is secure for users and their families , all that is an important concern. They want to be sure that the visitor feels secure and happy in any sector of the mountain. Patrollers and emergency crew are always ready to respond for rescue situation. The team is always listening , taking notes , comments and suggestions to improve the actual facility.

  

OUR MISSION

Based on the conservation and the value of the natural sites, we are contributing to education activity and environment research, protection of the biodiversity and  declined species .

Organised public services related to protection of the environment to benefit the community.

Creating and managing a Parc Naturel in the Massif region of Mts Sutton.

Opening and maintaining trails for interpretation and nature observation

Developing adequate shelters and nature observation point

Innovate nature interpretation activities

Set programme to support recycling and recuperation from usual consummation to protect the environment

Promote environment conservation and protection by educational activities in the fields of protection, conservation and nature interpretation.

To pursuit these goals and follow their mission; Parc Environnement Sutton would receive financial or material donations administrate them and  organise found raisers when needed.

 

Why helping us ?

 To keep the rights of passing wich are permitting to walk trought the mountain on mainly private lands.

To maintain and improve the beauty and the trusty of the trails.

To make sure that future generations will still have the opportunity to taste as you do, the joy and the beauty of the mountain.

To contribute and to preserve rare left species of animal and vegetal

To replace the missing grants from the governments provincial and federal . We have to do miracles year after year to maintain our double mission: conservation and access of the mountain.

 

Rules and regulations

Fires are forbidden everywhere and always because of fire hazards and potential damage to the forest. For the same reason try to avoid smooking in the wood.

Stay in the marked trails to respect the fragility of the area and keep your dog in leach when he hicks with you.

Bring back your garbage “leave nothing but footprint” Do not hesitate to bring the ones left on trails by other walkers.

Leave the bark the branches and the leaves on the tree  “take nothing but pictures” that way the wild life is protected. Grafitits don’t belong to the mountain, let it know by the ignorant.

Pay your passage due  at the entrance gate. If you plan to come often become a member of ParK Environnement Natural of Sutton.
